About Arrowhead: The superstar tigress of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve

After knowing about the death of Machali, the legendary tigress of Ranthambore National Park, it brought tears to many animal lovers. She was known to be the star attraction whose popularity was spread across the globe. Machali was the subject of documentaries and short films and earned titles like Crocodile Hunter, Lady of the Lake, and Queen Mother of Tigers. But now since she is no more, her legacy is followed by granddaughter Arrowhead, the new superstar tigress in Ranthambore National Park who inherited bravery from her grandmother (T-16).

Arrowhead was born to Krishna (T-19), who mated with Sitara (T-28). She was named ‘Arrowhead’ because of the arrow mark on her left cheek. Today, this nine-year-old tigress rules zone 3 of Ranthambore National Park, once dominated by her mother, Krishna. She was among the three cubs born to T-19. After becoming adults, they established their territories. Arrowhead also took hold of zones 2, 3, and 4.

Cubs of Arrowhead

Covering wildlife of Ranthambore National Park has always been a passion for wildlife photographers. The same is true with the tourists who make their tour memorable with sightings of tigresses with their cubs. Arrowhead was spotted with her first litter on 22nd February 2018. The second cub was born on 2nd January 2019, and the third litter on 23rd July 2021. To view the Arrowhead tigress, visit zones 2, 3, 4, and 5.
